Некоторые виды из тропической Америки имеют орган свечения в виде пары желтых пятен на переднеспинке и одного пятна на брюшке снизу; у крупного, в 30-40 мм, кукухо (Pyrophorus noctilucus L.) свечение столь сильно, что достаточно ночью для чтения [Общая энтомология; Г. Я. Бей-Биенко, 1980 г.].

Attached Imagekaa_001_s.jpgЖуки семейства Elateridae (Щелкуны) имеют удлиненное тело, переднегрудь у них сочленена с остальной частью туловища очень подвижно, переднеспинка имеет характерные вытянутые и заостренные задние боковые углы, формула лапок - 5-5-5 (все лапки пятичлениковые).
Личинки жуков с твердым тонким телом называют проволочниками, обычно живут в земле и зачастую вредят подземным частям растений.
Отличительная особенность представителей этого семейства - наличие характерного прыгательного органа (фото прилагается). Переднегрудка несет между пердними тазиками направленный назад выступ, упирающийся в выемку на среднегрудке. У этих жуков как правило достаточно короткие ноги и, оказавшись на спине, они могут перевернуться только с помощью такого прыгательного аппарата - путем резкого отгибания перднегрудки вниз, когда выступ соскакивает с выемки на перднегрудке, что создает толчок и сопровождается щелчком.
Развитие "щелкунчиков" медленное - 3-5 лет.

В моем маленьком школьном определителе он очень похож на Черного щелкуна, хотя наверное вы правы - У рода Athous несколько уже переднеспинка по сравнению с надкрыльями и не сильно заострены ее края. Может это действительно Selatosomus. Спасибо.

Это не Athous и не Selatosomus, а cкорее всего представитель рода Ctenicera (ранее назывался Corymbites). Для более точного определения нужно знать место фотографирования...

Решил сегодня поддержать подмосковными видами эту подзабытую тему.
Видимо она позабылась потому,что они довольно сложны в определении (у самого полно неопределённых).
А на мой взгляд это довольно интересные жуки.
3 вида рода Ampedus:
1) Ampedus sanguineus Linnaeus, 1758. 03.05.1996г. М.О., Балашихинский р-н., окр. ст. Купавна, под еловой корой.
2) Ampedus sanguinolentus Schrank, 1776. 13.06.1999г. М.О., Балашихинский р-н., окр. д. Полтево, на зонтичных.
3) Ampedus balteatus Linnaeus, 1758. 18.05.2005г. М.О., Люберецкий р-н., окр. д. Торбеево, на берёзовых трутовиках.

Найден: 27.04.2000г. Здесь: М.О., Люберецкий р-н., окр. д. Торбеево, довольно часто попадается на цветущих: черёмухе, рябине и боярышнике.

Довольно часто попадается в смешанном лесу на низкорастущих травянистых растениях.

Найден: 17.05.2004г. Здесь: М.О. Люберецкий р-н. окр. дер. Торбеево (довольно часто попадается под корой различных лиственных).

Василий, щелкун который у Вас Athous bicolor скорее всего Athous niger - вариация с бурыми надкрыльями (название на память не помню...), а "Ampedus pomorum" почти 100% Ampedus nigroflavus, только у него из среднерусских оранжевые надкрылья, а у pomorum буро-красные.
