В каталоге (том 5) для подрода Corticeus приводится синоним Hypophlaeus.
Потом для видов original genus указывается в двух вариантах с буквами a/o.
Hypophlaeus / Hypophlоeus.

castaneus Fabricius, 1790: 223 (Hypophlaeus)
nitidus Melsheimer, 1846: 62 (Hypophloeus)
pseudocastaneus Reitter, 1906f: 242 (Hypophlaeus)
purkynei Roubal, 1932b: 130 (Hypophloeus)
taxicornis Rossi, 1790a: 49 (Ips)

Это опечатка (какой вариант тогда правильный), или оба наименования в ходу и это разные вещи действительно.
В Catalogue of life Hypophloeus вроде как указан как актуальный род с одним видом.

По первоописанию Hypophlaeus Fabricius, 1790, а Hypophloeus auctt. последующее неверное написание.
