The project aims to study the combined effects of ageing, hypertension and aerobic training on hemodynamic parameters and the transcriptome in brain areas involved in the autonomic control of the circulation of hypertensive (SHR) and normotensive control rats (WKY) in different ages: young group (1 month old) in which training started at the pre-hypertensive phase, and, old group (12 months old) in which the experimental protocols started after the establishment of robust autonomic imbalance driven by a combination of ageing and chronic hypertension. A detailed transcriptome in autonomic brain areas was already obtained. The selected post-doctoral fellow may validate the function of identified nodal genes in SHR and WKY by means of gene transfer techniques in autonomic areas involved in cardiovascular control. Applicants may have PhD in related areas (neuroscience, cardiovascular, neuroendocrinology, molecular biology), fluent English, availability for traveling to Bristol, UK and knowledge of different techniques as gene and protein expression, in vivo gene transfer, immunohistochemistry and experience in recording cardiovascular parameters. The selection process will take 2 steps: 1) the analysis of the documents send by the applicants, and, 2) an interview for those that fulfill the specified requirements (below). To apply the candidate must send to michelin@usp.br: a short text explaining his/her interest and professional experience the Curriculum Vitae 2 reference letters The deadline for application is July 10, 2015.
