A 4-year PhD studentship is available from 1 October 2018 in the laboratory of Prof Hiro Ohkura at the Wellcome Centre for Cell Biology, University of Edinburgh, UK. The laboratory investigates the fundamental mechanisms of chromosome segregation through a combination of genetics, molecular biology, live imaging, modelling and biochemistry/proteomics using Drosophila as a model system. The research aims to uncover the molecular mechanism behind spindle assembly and chromosome organisation in mitosis and meiosis. A PhD project will be tailor-made to suit the student's interest and strengths. We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented student to join our team. A master degree is not essential, but an excellent B.Sc degree with strong research experience is important.
